Christmas Day :)

Woke up early to a nice surprise from Mag, a homemade stocking full of goodies:) we then read until it was nearly light before packing a flask and breakfast and heading off on our bikes at about 8 in the morning in light rain:( Lucky for us the rain soon stopped as we head down to the prom and are soon wishing everyone a Merry Christmas:) We follow the coast all the way to the lovely Felixstowe Ferry stopping to take a few pics before setting off along the River Deben foot path to Kings Fleet. Turning inland across the fields and lanes we arrive at our favorite spot for breakfast - Falkenham church with stunning views across to the river:) Mag enjoys her toasted cheese and ham toastie while I have a delicious sausage roll when a nice man arrives in his Christmas jumper, he enters the church and starts ringing the bells! What a lovely way to see in Christmas morning:) Several come to the church and we are invited in but we decline and set off on our bikes again to Kirton, then Trimley along the A 14 and down to Levington Marina where we see several waders on the edge as the tide is high. We then ride along the River Orwell a short way before turning left past Loompit lake to our wooded path all the way back to Felixstowe, it is very muddy but great fun:) Out over 3 hours covering 18 miles getting home just as the forecast rain arrived! the highlight was seeing several Long Tailed Tits:) Then after a quick shower we enjoyed opening presents and a buffet lunch with our son Dan and his girlfriend Jay, our other son Rob and his girlfriend Hannah rang from Devon to wish us seasons greeting :)
We now sit baking in front of the open fire dozing and watching old films - so a top day and unusual for us no snow snow involved!!!

PS - got too hot for us so went for a walk to the seafront stopping off at the amazing new oak frame shelter at the end of our road:)
